Ride on lawn mowers

Imagine sitting down on your bottom crusing around, gliding over the grass and turning it back into lawn. A ride on mower is a must for anyone who lives on a large block.

If you are in the lawnmowing business no doubt your going to need to get one. Like wise if you have a larger block and need to mow a lot of grass you would be silly to use a 21" push mower.

There are a few differnt main designs of sit on type mowers. These are also sometimes called lawn tractors and zero turn mowers. Both of which are different in design, operation, cutting capacity, cutting speeds, manoverability and so on.

A typical machine these days is usually driven by a front mounted engine of either Briggs and Stratton, Kohler, Kawasaki, John Deere or Honda brand power plants. They have four wheels with the front two being the steering ones. To make them move forwards and backwards they either have a new type hydrostatic drive, or an older style lever type mechanism. Cutting widths and power outputs of these machines all vary depending on the models.

These type of ride on mowers are suited to the home owner with the smaller acerage block.

Lawn tractor

Now a lawn tractor on the other hand is a much larger and beefier version. They have more options in terms of accessories, such as the John Deere mowers.  A lot of models have water cooled engines, power steering, powered take off (PTO) attatchments and even four wheel drive (4wd). These bigger lawn tractor units are for people who do a lot of mowing on large acerage such as a farm, or if you are a contactor and want to start a lawnmowing business.

Zero turn mower

A totally different design and my favorite is the zero turn. These things can slash cutting times by a large ammount. Very high ground speeds are available, with huge cutting widths and you can turn the around on a dime.

Ride on lawn mowers are so much better than pushing a walk behind.

Ride on mower cover

How's this, you can get yourself a cover that is designed to go over you mower.  This is a really affordable cover that will protect you expensive machine from the harsh sun, wind, rain and snow etc.
